Best list:
1. Auckland International Airport; when I came for a visit in 2008, I was randomly picked for screening and I didn’t even know that it was one. The agent was so friendly it felt like someone was just trying to give you a warm welcome. Suffice it to say that I stayed indefinitely.
2. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport; so big that even if I was actually stranded because of a weather event, the sheer size of it distracted me from the fact that I had missed my flight and that hardly anyone spoke English.
3. Ninoy Aquino International Airport; for better or worse, it’s as Filipino as you can get and, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Worst:
1. Queenstown International Airport (NZ); small, no longer fit for purpose but don’t mention this to the locals who think their town is ‘the bees’ knees’ which is bullshit.
2. Allama Iqbal International Airport (Pakistan); haven’t been to Pakistan, but I heard it’s awful.
The airport & the country were so good, he stayed permanently
