I started some form of spring cleaning yesterday and all I accomplished was digging out these pair of I Love Ugly pants that I purposely bought for one occasion and have never worn since.
The occasion was my New Zealand citizenship ceremony where the advisory was ‘wear something from your culture’. Didn’t have a traditional barong so the next best option that could resemble something cultural in my mind, was something ‘organic’ like flowers, plants, weaving, etc.
I found a crocheted top from Zara, the pants from ILU and a pair of outdoor Nike sneakers in a woven design- boom! Done! Except for the top which I had worn twice, I never wore the other two again, because that’s me- I like to buy and put together ensembles for special occasions without necessarily thinking that they’re practical enough to pair with another outfit.
But yesterday, just by accident in an attempt to jump-start the new season, I found the pants and realised that the start of my work week was the 1st day of spring, so I thought, why not?
I love spring not necessarily because I hate winter (the latter is actually my favourite season), but because even good things come to an end- for now (before you go through the same cycle again).
